How I Write My Book Reviews

Hi everyone, today I thought I would do something a little different seeing as I haven't completed a book in awhile and I want to still keep posting here! I'm going to be sharing with you how I personally create my layout for a book review! First thing I do is pick up a book that I am keen to read or a book that I need to read for review or school. As I read, I will either make note of something I like or dislike in my review notebook or/and I will tab a quote or saying with a sticker that I find intriguing or amusing. After I finish the book I will then go on to my laptop and open up a new post for my blog and get everything I would like to include in the post before I write my review, like so: Title:  Author:   Series or Standalone:   Genre:  Format:   Publication Date: When I finish researching all of the following, I will then look up the Goodreads summary and insert that as well. I then gather all my notes I...

REVIEW - THE GREAT GATSBY

Image
Title: The Great Gatsby  Author:  F. Scott Fitzgerald Series or Standalone:  Standalone Genre: L iterary Fiction Format:  Paperback Publication Date: 30th September 2004 Goodreads Summary: A portrait of the Jazz Age in all of its decadence and excess, The Great Gatsby captured the spirit of the author's generation and earned itself a permanent place in American mythology. Self-made, self-invented millionaire Jay Gatsby embodies some of Fitzgerald's--and his country's--most abiding obsessions: money, ambition, greed, and the promise of new beginnings. "Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgiastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that's no matter--tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther.... And one fine morning--"Gatsby's rise to glory and eventual fall from grace becomes a kind of cautionary tale about the American Dream. It's also a love story, of sorts, the narrat...

REVIEW - THE SHADOWHUNTER'S CODEX

Image
Title: The Shadowhunter's Codex Author:  Cassandra Clare & Joshua Lewis Series or Standalone:  Companion novel Genre: Fantasy Format:  Paperback Publication Date: 31st October 2013 Goodreads Summary: The Clave is pleased to announce the newest edition of the Nephilim’s oldest and most famous training manual: the Shadowhunter’s Codex. Since the thirteenth century, the Codex has been the young Shadowhunter’s best friend. When you’re being swarmed by demons it can be easy to forget the finer points of obscure demon languages or the fastest way to stop an attack of Raum demons. With the Codex by your side, you never have to worry.  My Review: I started reading The Shadowhunter's Codex about a year ago and never got to finish it, so today was the day and I'm glad I did. It reminded me how much I love this world that Cassandra Clare created! Having read The Infernal Devices Trilogy and 4 out of the 5 books in The Mortal Instr...

BOOK REVIEW - UGLY LOVE

Image
Title: Ugly Love Author: Colleen Hoover Series or Standalone: Standalone Genre: Romance Format: ebook - kindle Publication Date: 5th August  Goodreads Summary: When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her. Never ask about the past. Don’t expect a future. They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all. Hearts get infiltrated. Promises get broken. Rules get shattered. Love gets ugly. My Review: Ugly love was my first Colleen Hoover ...

TWILIGHT: THE GRAPHIC NOVEL - VOLUME 1 REVIEW

TWILIGHT: THE GRAPHIC NOVEL - VOLUME 1 BY STEPHENIE MEYER AND YOUNG KIM This graphic novel is basically the first half of the Twilight novel summed up. Everyone pretty much knows the concept of the Twilight books, so I won't go into anymore detail about the plot other than, Bella moves to Forks and meets the "mystery guy" Edward. I really enjoyed the fast paced reading concept of this graphic novel. I completed this in one sitting, I really recommend reading this if you have not read a graphic novel before, like me. This was the perfect first graphic novel to read!  It was fast paced and didn't include every single detail from the book which I thoroughly applauded, also the art and adaption was absolutely amazing and made my reading that much more enjoyable.  I will defiantly be picking up the next volume! I gave this graphic novel 4/5 stars.

WE WERE LIARS : BOOK REVIEW

WE WERE LIARS   BY E. LOCKHART     "There's not even a Scrabble word for how I'm feeling right now."   We Were Liars by E. Lockhart is an interesting, suspenseful and heartbreaking read, that'll leave you questioning everything. This novel defiantly messes with your mind until the very end. E. Lockhart's writing captured me from the very start of this book, I could tell straight away her writing style was unique and that it may not be for everyone, but I personally enjoyed it. As I can't tell you much about the plot without spoiling you I will just share my thoughts on how I reacted during reading this book. As soon as I started reading I was confused, I was completely shocked at how different the plot actually was than how I thought. This only occurred because I had no idea what it was about before reading. Although I was confused for majority of the book, I felt an attachment to the characters and loved the way the author portrayed them, es...
